Safety
Since 2006, Kid Car has remained the only car service to offer both fully vetted, professional drivers and properly installed car seats. Our commitment to safety is ongoing, with our recent introduction of artificial intelligence to ensure that your family has the right driver behind the wheel.
Drivers
Only Kid Car incorporates artificial intelligence into its screening process, making it the most comprehensive in the industry.
Professional Drivers
Kid Car drivers make their living behind the wheel, making them more dependable and safer than part-time or ‘gig’ drivers.
Background Checks
Kid Car put its drivers through fingerprinted background check that include criminal history and sex offender registry and Kid Car evaluates the drivers Motor Vehicle Report to make sure they are safe behind the wheel.
AI-Enhanced Driver Evaluation
Only Kid Car uses Verensics’ rule-based software that mimics a face-to-face interview with an I/O psychologist and adapts questions and presents feedback based on each unique interviewees’ actual responses. The result is a more comprehensive analysis of the driver candidate and a reduction in criminal and counterproductive behavior among those that have met Kid Car’s already stringent vetting requirements.
Vehicles
Kid Car offers a selection of large and small vehicles for all your travel needs. In addition to the cleanliness of your vehicle, we care about the engine, brake pads, and signal lights, which is why Kid Car vehicles are inspected by a trained professional 3x more frequently than your personal vehicle.
- Driver-owned vehicles undergo a licensed, DMV inspection every 4 months.
- Fleet-owned vehicles undergo regular maintenance by licensed, in-house mechanics as well as regular, licensed DMV inspections.
Vehicles are cleaned after each passenger and because food and pets aren’t allowed in Kid Car vehicles, passengers with severe allergies can breathe a little easier.
Car Seats
Kid Car car seats are NCAP crash tested, the industry benchmark for verifying child seat performance in severe accident conditions and Kid Car drivers are trained to properly install all Kid Car car seats.
Kid Car convertible car seats are certified by NHTSA for rear-facing children from 5-45lbs, forward-facing children from 20-65lbs in a 5-point harness, and children up to 120lbs in a belt-positioning booster seat.
Each Sedan carries 1 car seat, each Minivan up to 2 car seats, and each SUV up to 3 car seats.
General Car Seat Guidelines
Kid Car adheres to the following principles when it comes to car seats:
- Infants should ride in rear-facing car seats for as long as possible (23 states require that children under the age of 2 be rear-facing).
- Toddlers should ride in forward-facing car seats with harnesses for as long as possible.
- School-age children should ride in booster seats until the adult seat belt fits properly (usually 4’9” and 80-100lbs; most states require children under the age of 8 to be in a federally approved car seat).

Partners of Child Passenger Safety at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHoP)
A 1-stop shop for all of your questions regarding child safety in automobiles. CHoP has been instrumental in quantifying the need for proper restraint of children in automobiles and their research has led several states, including New York, to require that children under the age of seven be properly restrained when riding in an automobile.
